Four musicians from four different countries (Benjamin Kobler (Germany) Heather O'Donnell (U.S.A) pianos; László Hudacsek (Hungary), Rie Watanabe (Japan), percussion), the musicians of ensemble 2x2 (pron. "zwei-mal-zwei") bring their diverse experiences as soloists into a musical collective that is characterized by artistic openness, integrity, and excellence. Ensemble 2x2 is recognized for their energetic and committed performances, openness to diverse musical expressions, and interest in the creation and development of a wider body of works for this instrumentation. Founded in 2007 with two debut concerts at the prestigious Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, ensemble 2x2 is establishing itself as a fresh and compelling new element on the contemporary music scene, receiving acclaim from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ("Masterful playing... the interpreters of ensemble 2x2 generated a new tone color") and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung ("particularly exhilarating... enormous dexterity... ensemble 2x2 made a great impression"). |
